As every child who's read Dr. Seuss knows
Here's the tale of THE GRINCH and the way that it goes.
He lives alone on Mount Crumpet, hating all of the whos
Who live cheerfully in Whoville, doing all that whos do.

With a sled and his dog - Max - disguised as a reindeer
The Grinch plans to steal the whos' holiday cheer.
He takes all of their trees and their gifts and roast beast
Leaving no presents to open, no food for a feast.

But a small who-girl - Cindy Lou - on Mount Crumpet appears
To wish the mean Scrooge-like Grinch holiday cheer.
Amazingly his heart grows three sizes that day
And they head for Whoville, celebrating all of the way.

Big star Jim Carrey is great in the part
Of the grouchy old outcast with a shrivelled up heart.
Taylor Momsen is a charming wide-eyed Cindy Lou,
An innocent, cheerful, and fearless young who.

And as for make-up designer Rick Baker
He once again proves himself a character maker.
With contacts, fake teeth and lots of green hair
You almost forget there's an actor in there.

All the fantastic Whoville costumes and sets
Even curlicue clouds that are hard to forget,
The songs and the jokes and Ron Howard's shrewd direction
Are sweet sugar coating on this Christmas confection.

For the smallest of kids, THE GRINCH might be too much
Rated PG for some crude humor, and such.
But for those who are used to these Hollywood ways
There is also plenty to brighten your day.

I left the theater with a smile on my face.
I think I know who'll win this week's box office race.
So if holiday ballyhoo gets you all in a pinch
I'd recommend that maybe you see THE GRINCH.
